Buildings & Contents

If you have a leak, the water isn't always visible. It always seems to go where it cant be seen and eats away at everything around it. Then the water starts to be visible but not always in the place it leaked from. Plumbers come in and start ripping things out and cutting into walls, floors and ceilings to identify where the water is coming from, but is this covered by your insurer?

That's why having trace and access cover could be beneficial, as it might help pay for any investigations needed to find the source of leaks. It could also cover any repairs needed to fix the damage that's been caused by the search. Without it, it might be up to you to fund the costs.

Trace and Access is one biggest reasons for claims, but not every provider covers you.

Insuring your home can include buildings insurance, contents insurance or combining the two. Typically you will get a discount if you purchase both buildings and contents insurance from the same provider.

Buildings insurance will cover the cost to build your house again, rather than the cost to purchase it on the market. It includes essentially the bricks and mortar of your home plus any fixtures and fittings. It does not cover the contents.

Contents insurance covers the value to replace your possessions with new. To get accurate cover you must carefully take an inventory of your possessions, which includes electronic devices, clothes, jewellery, equipment, etc.
